Immigration Procedure

The United States has always been a nation built on immigrants. Although, the topic of immigration has become a highly publicized issue recently, this nation continues to allow foreign nationals to come to the U.S. for a number of differing reasons. The Immigration and Nationality Act, which was passed in 1952, became the basic body of immigration law in the country. It has been amended over the years to accommodate our policies to the ever-changing waves of immigration.

There are, however, certain policies that have stayed constant through out the years; namely, the procedure of immigrating to the United States has been consistent. The procedures that are most notably important to immigrants are the procedures of naturalization, deportation, and cancelation of removal. These three procedures, although very different, are some of the most important steps in becoming a U.S. citizen.
