LGBT Family Law Rights In Pittsburgh & Allegheny County

As of January 6, 2015, Florida recognizes same-sex marriages. This means that same-sex couples can get married throughout the state and that couples that were legally married in other states and meet the 6-month residency requirement, can now obtain a divorce in the state of Florida.

Our Florida family law firm believes that all families deserve legal representation by attorneys who are versed and experienced in handling the complex legal issues that may arise for same-sex couples.

Our team of Miami Family Lawyers assist LGBT couples will all legal issues they may face, including:

  • Marriage and Divorce
  • Children’s Issues
  • Domestic Partnership Agreements
  • Wills & Estates

It is important to keep in mind that laws regarding same-sex couples are rapidly changing. The Supreme Court’s decision about the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), for example, has begun to cause changes regarding same-sex marriage. The Court’s opinion made clear that a state has the power to decide how to define a marriage but it did not fully repeal DOMA. Supporters of marriage equality, however, remain optimistic that within the next few same-sex marriage will be legalized in every state.
