Examining Clauses In Celebrity Prenuptial Agreements

Pennsylvania prenuptial agreements historically have been used to establish which assets each party would receive and which liabilities each party would be responsible for. As shown through the celebrity examples, prenups can also be used to establish, modify, or eliminate spousal support. Pennsylvania statutes also allow that any other matter, including personal rights and obligations, that are not in violation of public policy or criminal laws can be included in the agreement. No matter is too small to be included in a Pittsburgh prenuptial agreement. Below are four examples of clauses that have been included by celebrities in their prenups.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake: In their prenuptial agreement there is a clause that if Justin were to ever cheat on Jessica she would receive at least $500,000. This seems to be a bit of an insurance policy since during their relationship there were a few rumors that Justin cheated a couple of times.

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom: In the couple’s prenuptial agreement Khloe asked for $500,000 for each year that they were married, $30,000 a month for support, the marital home, a new car at the end of the lease cycle, $5,000 a month for shopping expenses, $1,000 a month for beauty care, and season court-side Lakers tickets for her and her entire family. With the recent divorce filing, it will be interesting to see how this prenuptial agreement will be enforced.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban: Kidman did not originally plan to have a prenuptial agreement signed but when her advisers insisted on it she eventually obtained one. In the agreement, if they were to divorce her husband would receive $640,000 for every year that they were married. But if he ever uses illegal drugs prior to the dissolution of the marriage he will not receive any money. This clause was added due to the fact that Urban was once a cocaine addict.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones: The couple’s prenup has a clause that states that Zeta-Jones would receive $2.8 million dollars per year of their marriage if they were to ever divorce. In addition, if Douglas were ever caught cheating, Zeta-Jones would receive a $5 million dollar bonus.
